Hello, I was wondering if you had any advice for a novice gardener. This is my first summer gardening and I am feeling defeated because I feel my plants look unhappy. Any advice would be great.

You may have a few issues going on. The Zucchini leaf is showing signs of disease and I even see some pest damage.
The pepper plant seems yellow and may be suffering from the soil nutrients.
It appears your soil may be more suited for potted plants; I see slow release fertilizer in the soil.
I'm listing several links to help refresh you on the care requirements and some articles to help you.
