Q.Wilting Gardenia Blooms
I live in Tampa, Florida and planted two gardenia bushes (lollypop, top part grafted onto the base) planted in full sun four years ago. For the last three years, each plant has produced multiple buds throughout April and May with each bud producing a beautifully developed white flower. However, each flower wilted and turned brown within 24 hours. Is this normal/natural. I’ve read that gardenia flowers can last weeks. If so, then I’m doing something wrong. Help?
You may need to move your plant to a morning sun and afternoon location.
Water your gardenia regularly and fertilizer two or three times a year. One application is normally scheduled around February (South Florida) and another in October (South Florida). A third fertilizer application may be made during the summer.
