Will Young Crabapple Tree Grow Taller After Growing Tip Broken Off?

The growing tip of our young crabapple tree broke off and it is now only growing outwards and not up. Will it shoot another upwards tip or should we start again with a new tree?

Likely, over time, two or more new leaders will develop. The tree may never regain the upwards structure, but can be just as productive.
