Q.Will The Stump Of A Removed, Sick Mountain Ash Send Up Shoots That Can Become New Trees
My mountain ash of over 20 years started dying. I had to have it cut down and it broke my heart. The arborist left a stump. I am praying that it will send up new shoots that I can care for and grow new trees. Can that happen even if it was sick? I live in Edmonton Alberta. The tree has done extremely well for about 20 years. Is there anything I can do to promote regrowth?

If the tree is dead it won't send up new shoots, but if the roots are still alive it might. Not all trees will resprout. I would be concerned though that it will have the same disease that prompted its removal. If it starts sending up shoots and you want it to regrow, here is how:
