will snails hurt my winter acorn squash

Will snails hurt my winter acorn squash and how do I get rid of them? Today I found about 5 snails on the beginning starts of baby squash.

Yes, snails can do some harm by feeding on the leaves, or worse, by getting into other areas of the garden and having themselves a feeding frenzy. It is best to get rid of them.
