Will dahlias grow back after being mowed down in spring?

The Dahlias were just 6 inches tall when my husband cut them down. Will they come back shortly or are they gone for this year?

They may not come back fully prolific this year, but if the tubers aren't damaged, they should be fine next year. However, depending upon your growing region, they might surprise you and bloom this year despite the injuries. It may just be a waiting game.
