Q.Will cutting a yucca at the main stump kill it?

I’d like to cut these down level with the ground or close to it, as they’re blocking the sunlight & getting too tall & out of control, but I don’t want to if they’re not going to shoot back off again, I’d like to grow them again but they’re just getting too tall etc.. where I wish i had cut them back & maintained them when they were much smaller. The ground is quite wet most of the time until summer then dries out a lot leaving it really hard.  I cut these back a few months ago & a few have sprouted off where I cut, I just don’t know if that will happen if I cut the whole tree down, or if they’d survive to grow a new tree again. I really like these plants as they look lovely & need little maintenance.. as far as I know..
