bird of paradise plants near brick patio

Will bird of paradise roots damage a brick patio? How far from the bricks should the plants be planted? We just put down a brick patio and I would like to plant around it. I have always like bird of paradise plants. The area is in the full sun and very warm.

No, so many here in Las Vegas are put next to brick walls and buildings. It will be fine. Just make sure it has enough room around it to grow to its fullest. You should be fine! Beautiful plant too
