Q.Will Ants Kill Our Japanese Acer ?

Zone Essendine Rutland Pe9 4lh | Retep12 added on July 10, 2020 | Answered

We have had it for about 8 years , now it looks like it’s being overrun. Some of the leaves are turning slightly orange which has never happened before. Do you think we will have to repot?

Most ants will not harm your trees. Leaf cutter ants will, though. You would notice the leaves being cut very, very perfectly, though.

Likely, they are looking for aphids, which will devastate your tree. They farm aphids for the sap that they excrete.
