I would like to transplant a 5-6 ft tall Tamarack tree from the overcrowded location it is in now, it has one side that is not full,it is mis-shaped from lack of sun. Will it recover and fill in when moved to a more suitable location?

It can, but it will be best to wait until Autumn or Spring to do this. Now will not be a good time to do so.
