Q.Will A Plum Tree And A Cherry Tree Pollinate Each Other?
considering they’re both in the same genus or what have you will a plum tree and a cherry tree be able to pollinate each other? I have a small yard and don’t want 2 plum or 2 cherry trees but would like one of each.

No, they are different species, so they won't cross pollinate. Most cherry trees need a pollinator but only about half of plum trees do. So be sure to ask at the nursery so you get a plum that is self-fruitful.
On the cherry, be sure to get a second cultivar of the same species that blooms at the same time.
