Chaste tree, Vitex will grow in San Anselmo but will likely suffer frost die-back in winter and grow back in spring. If you want dependable year round foliage, choose some other plant.

Check with Sloat Garden Center in Kentfield or your favorite local nursery for details and a good planting soil for your container, like this:
