Q.Why would my Silverlace vine die suddenly? .

Zone Lyons, Michigan | Anonymous added on August 26, 2019 | Answered

I have had this vine for many years, and it has always grown fabulous, this year it didn’t even have a sprout. Nothing green on the vine at all this year. I have not dug it up yet, was hoping that it would sprout out late. Why would it die suddenly after looking so beautiful last year. Nothing to my knowledge has been done to the plant or the dirt around it either.
Any help would be appreciated.
thank you
Robin

Most likely it is a short-lived perennial vine. One resource said it bloomed for two years but you said you've had yours for several. Sometimes an extra cold winter can do them in or a period of drought in the summer where it didn't receive supplemental watering. It's hard to know for sure. They are quick growing so you can start another!
