why did my tomato plant die?

I bought two tomato plants and used the miraclegro nitrogen plant food mixed in one gallon water the two grew so fast with real dark green leaves looked to be 25 flowers. watered every three days soil was still moist. the leaves did not turn yellow at all one day the leaves and stems were wilted and burnt ussually would wilt a little I checked every morning what would cause it to die so fast! the soil was potting soil by miracle grow with 6 month’s to feed and drainage type got at least 4 hrs of sun just before the blooming too.

There are many, many reasons why the plant died.

Let’s start with the soil: It was, already, heavily nutrient rich out of the bag. Often times, the slow release will release nitrogen long into when the plant should be flowering. Too much nitrogen will cause the blooms to burn off. It is best to use soils without slow release for things you will be consuming.

Next, you stated that you were giving extra nitrogen. This will cause the leaves to turn very dark, and green. This is the tell-tale sign of nitrogen toxicity. Too much nitrogen will turn the plant dark, and then out of nowhere it dies.

The pH of the soil extraordinarily acidic from all of that nitrogen, which causes other nutrients to be unavailable to the plant.

Last, is the light. It needs at least 8 hours of bright direct light to be able to produce fruit.
