Q.Why Leaves Turning Brown On Newly Planted Myrtle?
My gardener planted some 10′ high myrtles in the strip between sidewalk and street. He put in deep watering leaky tubes to get water low under roots. Within 1 week one tree was looking sickly with leaves turning brown. Now at one month all three trees have same appearance. My guesses are 1) the trees were wind damaged during transport, 2) a planting error, 3) the deep watering tubes are allowing too much air into roots, 4) I am under watering (ca. 3 gallons each every 3 days by bucket), or 5) I am over watering. I hope you can help me save these trees.

My thought is overwatering. The roots may be sitting in water. You may want to reevaluate the deep watering tubes.
