Why is the new growth on my wisteria withering on the ends

The plant looks very healthy and has been doing really well but lately I have noticed about 8 inches from the tip it is wilty and turns brown.

I would suspect that the culprit is thrips. Some thrips like to attack the flowers and young growth on a plant and the tips would be young growth.
