Why Is My Foxtail Palm No Longer Growing New Fronds?

I live in Florida and replanted this 15ft foxtail palm in my yard 2 years ago and it’s been doing just fine. The last 4-5 months I noticed it’s not producing new fronds and some of the older fronds didn’t grow the full length they looked stunted. I fertilize it every 3 months. The fronds are dark green and the trunk of the palm now has some green stuff. I also gave it manganese about 2 months ago. I’m not sure what the issue really is and what else to do.

It could be that the soil is too acidic from the manganese mix, or that it could be lacking humidity. Raising the pH of the soil can help if the soil is too acidic. I would recommend dolomitic lime for this. A pond or water feature nearby may provide some extra humidity if this is the case. Here is an article that will offer information on the care of the tree:

I did have this problem for a few months before adding the manganese. This palm is in my front yard and I have a pond in the backyard, does this help with humidity?

I would do a soil test to see what pH your soil is, and what nutrients are out of whack, if any.

Unfortunately, the pond in the back won’t help much for the front, sorry.

I will definitely do a soil test. I did forget to add that in the middle of where the fronds are suppose to grow, its clustered with very small fronds that look like they are broken and bunched together kind of messy. Should these be cut really low to allow new fronds or cut to get rid of the mess?

My husband took a closer look at this palm and there are white spots on the fronds. What does this mean?
