Blackberry bush with no blooms or fruit

Question

Why is my blackberry bush growing fast but no blooms or fruit? I have a blackberry bush I got from Home Depot (I also got a blueberry bush which is fine making blueberries). It keeps growing tall and is at least 4 feet or more, but has not bloomed. I made sure it has plenty of sunshine but all it does is grow super tall. What do I need to do to get it to produce berries?

I have read that page. I read that before posting this question. I was hoping for more information as that didn’t tell me anything about why it keep doing well with no berries. Only thing I have not done is cut it. It is already so big I was not sure if I should cut it or how that would effect the plant. It doesn’t say WHY to cut it. It doesn’t say if cutting it will cause to produce berries. Nothing is really explained about the cutting it back to 6 inches. Which seem to be only for when it is young, doesn’t say to keep cutting it back once it is older. What do I do about a slightly older plant that is growing well, is very healthy but not producing berries? Do I cut it anyways even tho it is older? The link didn’t help explain WHY this needed to be done & if it can be done at a later age of the plant. I’m looking for an informational break down of what to do & why it works that way. I grew up around wild blackberry plants, they didn’t get cut so WHY does it say to cut it? Doesn’t make any sense to me. They grow just fine in the wild with no care. It seems I’d be better off going for a walk through the woods and fine one already making berries. =( Since my first question was posted it has already grown a good bit more, probably another 1-1/2 to 2 feet more. I’m pretty wary of cutting it considering how much it grows & how fast. Plus it is a slightly older plant, not a baby or anything.
