Q.WHY IS MY BANANA PLANT FLOWERING AFTER 3 MONTHS
I LIVE ALONG THE SHORE IN MILFORD CT. I HAVE 4 GROVES OF MUSA BASJOO (MAYBE 100 PLANTS) THAT I CUT DOWN IN THE FALL AND OVER WINTER, THIS YEAR I HAVE A FLOWER ON ONE THAT STARTED AFTER THE 1ST WEEK OF AUGUST. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? IT KEEPS PEELING BACK AND EXPOSING FLOWERS AND THE STALK IS GETTING LONGER, THE PLANT IS ONLY AROUND 7 FEET HIGH, MY OTHER PLANTS ARE UP TO 14 FEET BUT DO NOT PRODUCE FLOWERS.IS THIS UNUSUAL OR JUST A WEIRD PLANT THAT DOESN’T KNOW IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO FLOWER. IT GETS TO ZERO HERE AT LEAST ONCE EVERY YEAR, THESE BULBS ARE DEFINATELY DORMANT.

It may be in a microclimate and is maturing faster than the others. Look for the inedible fruits to follow.
