Why Is My Acer’s Leaves Curling Up?

I purchased this Acer last year. It was lovely, however it dropped all it’s leaves fairly quickly and then I thought it had died but put it out of the way. This year it came back and had lots of buds which turned into leaves that look like little flames, and like flames, they are all curling up at the ends and going black. What am I doing wrong please??
