Q.why is are the leaves on my yucca plant brown and spotty?

Zone 4b-5b | shiloh2 added on May 26, 2012 | Answered

I have a yucca plant that was here when I moved in 4 years ago and it has bloomed well. This year it looks all narly and yucky. It is in an east facing garden. Can I cut the bottom and brown leaves off to make it look better.

Yes, you can remove the unsightly leaves. This is likely due to overwatering, though it can also be caused by underwatering. Water the soil when the soil is dry up to your first knuckle. Also, treat the leaves with fungicide to kill any fungus that may be attacking the plant.
