Why Does One of My Gardenias Grow and Bloom and the Other One Not??

About two years ago, I planted two gardenias about 6 feet from each other. Sunlight same for both, yet one has grown rapidly, tripled in size, and has bloomed profusely while the other one has hardly grown any and has not bloomed at all. Any ideas why this would happen anyone?

It may be in a microclimate in your yard and the temps either rose or fell quickly or the soil is lacking nutrients necessary for adequate growth and blooming.
