Q.Why does Desert Rose have a soft globe
I have had my Desert Rose plant for a couple years now and in the last month it has started producing a better leaf and stem. At the same time I have noticed that the root bulb is starting to soften. What would cause this? I have looked on the internet at different sites and found no information about the cause. Should I repot the plant. Change its location. More or less water. Don’t know what would be best to get it back. Can you help me?

Usually a soft caudex means too much water and root rot may be setting in. Try withholding water till the soil is very dry. If things don't improve you can pull the plant up and inspect the roots; if any are dark or mushy, carefully cut those out with disinfected tools. Repot in soil for cactus with additional perlite or sand. See more about their care below.
