Q.Why Do Some Tomatoes Have a Split on Them?
Why do some tomatoes have splits on them? Is it too much watering or not enough?

It is not so much that the tomatoes are being overwatered, but rather unevenly watered. When they get too dry and then get a large amount of rain or water, they will split. This article has more information:
