Q.Why do my tomato plants keep dying from the bottom up?

Zone Maryland | tim0489 added on July 19, 2015 | Answered

The past few years I have been having issues with my tomato plants growing. They keep dying from the bottom up and this year has been the worse yet. This year I added additional mushroom soil to the garden and tilled it in.

This is a common issue that can be sometimes hard to diagnose with an image.
You may need to make some closer inspection of the plant and use the links below to help correctly identify the issues.

First make sure your watering the plants adequately.
Have you been rotating the crops? You mention issues in previous years and this can cause fungus diseases to attack the plants as the spores live in the soil and will kill the crops.
