Q.Why Do I Have Lots Of Brown Spots On My Cherries?

Zone Warrenville, Illinois | epbordelon added on June 25, 2020 | Answered

I noticed this year that the cherries as they were growing had lots of spots on them. Have not seen it this bad before. Also some dried up leafs but most of the leafs look great – no spots on leafs. A few days ago the cherries started turning red but they still have the spots. What is causing this? How do I prevent this from happening? Are these cherries safe to eat? I have not used any insecticides or fungicides on this tree as I try to do organic approaches. I use an organic fertilizer at least once a year. Eugene

Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I will be unable to see the damage, though it does sound like Brown Rot. This will make the cherries very undesirable for eating. Here are some articles that will help:

Interesting, I see my photos when I go to this web page. How can I send you the photos?

The problem I am having is not brown rot. Our cherries do not look like that.

Let me know how I can send you the photos. Thanks for your help.
