Q.Why Didn’t My Watermelon Ripen?

Zone New York | Anonymous added on September 16, 2013 | Answered

It’s my first time growing watermelon and everything appeared fine. I got 6 melons growing but heir growth slowed down. They appeared ripe, the bottoms were cream colored, they sounded hollow, and the tendril was brown and dry but when I opened it, it was not ripe at all. I gave plenty of water and food. Any ideas what occurred?

Thanks

Did you have 6 shapes on 1 plant? If so, that plant would have been hard pressed to support a 6 melons. Other than that, they possibly were picked too soon.
