Why Did The MY MONET Weigela Leaves Turn Brown And Many Of Them Fell Off The Stems. It Never Bloomed.

It got enough sun, was planted in a large whiskey barrel with well drained soil, was not over or under watered and we gave it the designated amount of fertilizer this summer. My WINE AND ROSES weigelas are doing fine so I can’t understand what went wrong with this one. Both kinds are planted they same way near each other. Brownish tipped leaves that became very sparse and more so as time went on and no blooms.

It may have had a fungal infection. Pick up and discard in the trash all the leaves that fell. That will help prevent a repeat performance next year.
