Q.Why Did My Kumuat Tree Turn Into A Pomelo Tree?
I planted a kumquat tree several years and it fruited for several years and then this year it all but disappeared and a pomelo tree is in its place!

My first thought was that the rootstalk your Kumquat was grafted onto overtook the scion (Kumquat). I did some research and Kumquats are mostly grown on trifoliate orange tree roots, which doesn't look like the photo. It is possible a bird dropped a pomelo seed next to the Kumquat which grew for years before it was noticed. If it grew from seed, there is no telling what grew. Here is more:
