I gave my Fern a brush cut for winter, now the stems are dripping fluid

It likely is just stored up water in the stems and is not a cause for concern. If the fluid is sticky, it may be honeydew, a byproduct of pests such as aphids, scale and mealybugs, so be sure the plant does not have any of those. If it does, Neem oil will help.
