calla lily dying

Why is the base of my calla lily going soggy and the plant is slowly dying? My calla lily is planted in my garden, in semi shade, and I’ve only had it a few weeks.

It sounds as if your plant is too wet. One must be careful with bulb plants because over-watering can kill them very easily. If you try another lily plant, I would suggest you mix one part garden soil with two parts sand to promote drainage. After planting the bulb, I would suggest you put a layer of sand on top of the soil to promote even better drainage.
