Why are red oak leaf tips turning black?

We planted a red oak tree 3 years ago. The last 2 summers, we didn’t think it would make it through the summer because the leaf tips started turning black and then the whole tree seemed to get brown crinkled leaves and looked like it died. What is the solution to this problem?

Most likely a fungus disease has infected your tree.
