Q.Why are new fronds on my sago coming in orangish yellow?

Zone San Antonio TX, zone 8b | ZiGGYZ88 added on August 30, 2018 | Answered

My sago I’ve had for a few months which I transplanted in the spring and has had new growth this year recently started a second round of new growth at the beginning of this month August and after a few weeks of noticing the new growth is coming in an orange-ish yellow color and has not grown very fast as in comparison to two other new sagos I saved from riding and transplanted them around the same time which both have fully bloomed and beautiful new growth

It looks like the start of flower heads. It is hard to tell whether it is male or female, but without both, there will be no seeds.
