Why are my zucchinis hollow in the center of the fruit?

This is a condition that is called hollow heart. There is not a general consensus as to why it happens.

Some people think that it has to do with the fruit growing too fast. The exterior grows faster than the interior. This could be caused by too much water or too much fertilizer.

Others think that it is related to poor pollination or even the weather that happens during pollination.
