Why is Yellow Squash Turning Orange

My yellow squash turns dark orange shortly after the flower falls off. This is the first time we’ve had this problem. Can you tell me why they are doing this and how to stop it?

It sounds like it might be a pollination issue. The fruit turning orange sounds like they are dying, but just have not fallen off yet.
