Q.Why Are My Tomato Plant Leaves Dying?

Zone Zone 6a | www100 added on August 6, 2024 | Answered

Some leaves are dying on my tomato plant. I didn’t know anything about gardening when I planted a bunch of tomato plants too close together this spring. Are the plants too crowded? Do I need to prune (I haven’t pruned at all because I didn’t know that was a thing)? Or are they diseased? I’ve harvested a few tomatoes so far, and they look fine.

This will be tomato blight. One of many fungal pathogens. This does happen when it remains too wet, so might have been made worse by crowded planting. This Would hold moisture that can invite diseases. Currently, there are no real cures. Fungicides paired with cleaning up any dead debris will help keep it at bay until next year's planting.
