why are my Radishes small and very hot? Tops are almost ready to go to seed.

My radishes are very small. The tops are large and healthy, almost to seed. Radish is small and very hot to taste. Soil is sandy topsoil with mixed in peat. Water is applied every day if requied. The garden is in direct sun for about 3/4 of the day. Fertilizer, liquid Miraclegrow 7 to 10 days.
