italian dandelion seedlings turning brown

Question

Why are my newly transplanted Italian dandelion seedlings turning brown at the edges? I recently purchased some Italian dandelion green seedlings which looked great when I purchased them. I transplanted them to larger containers and watered them according to some information I found online. After one week, the leaves are turning brown around the edges.

I used a mixture of clay soil and purchased organic soil enhancer that is supposed to break up clay soil. I also added a bit of coffee grounds. I live an area that gets very bright sun. The temperatures had been warm (70’s) but dropped recently, though not below freezing. The days are still in the 60’s. I am not certain if it is too much sun, water, wind, or the cooler nights. I am new to growing vegetables. Everything must be organic.

In general, browning leaf edges indicate some chemical imbalance in the soil, such as pH too high or low, or some mineral too much or too little. Another possibility is short periods of the roots being too dry. Also, there are a number of diseases which could cause browning.
