Why are my hot peppers not growing tall?

I got some hot pepper seeds from a friend as he knew I liked this variety of hot peppers. I don’t know the name of the plant, unfortunately. I planted them in late March and kept them on a windowsill until the seeds germinated and when the temperature was above 15°C, I moved them into a greenhouse. I opened the greenhouse when it was hot outside 20°C+ and kept it closed overnight when temperatures dropped below 15°C.

The problem is they are very short but bushy. The stem is very short, about 3-4 cm and there are a lot of new leaves growing and some of them started flowering. I’m sorry I cannot give more details about the pepper variety; my friend successfully grew the plants in Romania.

It’s my first time growing something in the UK and I was impressed with the results at first. I also have 18 tomatoe plants which look very healthy and they are growing normally, so I don’t think I’m completely incompetent at gardening.

Any ideas how to save my crop? I have 30 pepper plants, all of which have the same problem.

The same thing happened with my pepper plant. I moved it to a bigger pot and addrd miraclegro granules in the soil. Be careful when transplanting. I did the evening and try not to damage the roots. Its growing well now with lots of peppers. Hope it helps.

I transferred them two weeks ago into larger pots. I always do my gardening work in the evening and I did minimal damage to the roots as I have been extremely careful when moving them into larger pots.
