Why Are My Dahlia’s Not Blooming Yet?

Hi. I started my Dahlia’s from tubers I purchased this spring. They are in large to med. large pots. It has taken them 3 months to get to where they have flower bulbs coming out but it is Mid August now (I planted 3rd week in May)and the buds seem so small . No flowers yet! I live in Alberta Canada and only have a few weeks left of summer weather. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you

It is going to be a chore to get them to grow in your zone. You are well outside of their native range, so a good portion of the plant's year will be spent under lighting indoors.
