Q.why are my black eyed peas going to seed and no pods yet
They are about 3 ft tall with dark green leaves but no peas yet.

Not quite sure what you mean by "going to seed" since the pea is the seed and forms inside the pods. Do you mean your peas are beginning to flower? If so, don't worry the flower comes before the pod and if the flowers get pollinated the pea pods will soon follow.
