White Worm

Have noticed a small white worm, whilst digging my allotment. It’s smooth and slow moving, approx. 2 cm long and 2-3 mm in width. I am clueless as to whether it is a pest or beneficial. Any idea what it might be please?

These could be anything from grubs to whitefly larvae, or even garden symphylans (which is generally more common). This article will help determine if these worms are the ones in question: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/garden-symphylan-small-white-worm-like-bugs-in-the-soil.htm [1]
