Q.White Tomatoes

Zone 97304 zone 8 | eikandgolf added on March 12, 2023 | Answered

I am thinking about trying to grow some white beef steak tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets on my deck? The reason they will be on my deck is the deer will eat them if planted in a regular garden environment. Has anyone grown a white tomato? Do they taste like a regular tomato? Are there any tricks I should be aware of in order to have a successful harvest?

They grow, just about, like any other tomato. They DO have a slightly more acidic taste, and lack that heavy "tomato" flavor of red cultivars, to me. They tend to be a little more on the acidic side.

We have a few articles that will help you to do this, successfully, in buckets, and to grow them in general:
