White furry fungi(?) has appeared on my houseplant. The leaves themselves do not appear affected but it is unsightly. Any advice on how to remedy?

This is likely Mealybug or Scale, they can sometimes look similar.

Treat the plant with Neem OIl. Neem Oil is safe for people and pets.

This infestation is quite large and you will need to do treatments weekly until the problem is gone.
Be sure to spray all sides of the leaves.
If you have other plants you should treat them all, but certainly quarantine this plant.
