Q.White bird of Paradise
I have a bird of paradise I have grown in my house for 19 yrs. It is about 3 stories high in a walkout Lower level. It has reached the top of the ceiling and I would like to know how to or even if I can trim the top of it. I have let the lower leaves grow back this time and have not trimmed them yet. Also is it possible to remove lower parts to establish new plants?
Yes, you can prune a bird of paradise by removing the tallest leaves back to where they attach to the stem. Or, you can remove the entire main "trunk" and allow the leaves at the base to grow.
