Q.White Bird Of Paradise

The leaves are splitting and a few are turning yellow in the veins of the leaves. I try not to drown it, and wonder how to fertilize??

Leaf splitting is normal. It allows the wind to pass through and can also allow more light into the center of the plant. However, inconsistent watering, extreme temperatures, or low humidity can stress the plant and cause splitting.

You will need to bring the plant in during the winter as it is not hardy in your zone 8.

The yellowing and brown spots could signal a magnesium deficiency or overwatering. Fertilize monthly during spring and summer with a liquid, balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10. (You also can use slow release granules less frequently. Follow package instructions.) Here are more tips for proper care:
