I love the look and size of mature pecan trees and I would like to plant one in my empty back yard. I don’t care about the nuts, etc. I care more about which pecan tree species is the biggest or has the best canopy at maturity. I love how my neighbors pecan tree is so big and has so much thick foliage. Which pecan tree species is the best for shade? Elliot? Pawnee?

They are all, very, similar in size. As long as you don't purchase a dwarf cultivar. The best way to ensure a large and full tree is proper care!
