Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comWe covered our bird of paradise (orange flower) last winter with plastic, due to many freezes, and must have left it on too long as now much of the plant has dead leaves. How far down to I prune the branch? Some look like there is a new branch coming out, and I have cut it just above that. Should I prune all dead branches at once? We live near Sacramento, CA.

You can prune out anything that is brown, as this is dead. Since you are seeing new good growth, this means the plant will recover just fine.
