When you cut the pups out, does it damage or kill the mother plant?

I have five pups growing on main ball. I want to cut them out but I am afraid it will hurt the main plant.

What type of plant is this?
Generally removal of pups does not damage the mother plant but there are some plants that the mother plant dies off after producing pups.
