When We Moved Out Lime Inside the Fruit Turned Yellow

We moved our lime tree indoors for the winter and all the limes that were growing on it were green. Then they all turned lemon yellow after we moved the tree indoors and most have fallen off. Is that normal? Can the limes be eaten or are they ruined? They are about the size of a walnut pod.

Generally, limes turn yellow once they become mature (or over ripe). Limes are usually picked while young and still green. Yellow limes are not good to eat.
